Third Eye on the web
Short how-tos for the most important workflows in Third Eye. Pick a topic and follow the steps and screenshots.
These instructions are for the web app (app.thirdeye-performance.com). Instructions for the mobile app are coming later. The screenshots show the app in Finnish.
Upload videos from your computer to the team library.
Open the Library and press the yellow Add button in the top-right corner.
In the window that opens, choose Upload and pick one or more video files from your computer. You can select several videos at once.
When you upload a single video it opens straight in the workspace, where you choose who on the team can see it. Several videos upload straight to the library.
After the upload the video is processed so it plays smoothly on every device. The library shows how far the upload and processing are.
Move through the video with J, K and L and cut clips into a sequence with a single key press.
Open a video from the library. These keys take you through a game or a practice without the mouse:
Skim the video at 4× or 8× with L, stop with K and go back to the start of the play with J. Slow motion is on the speed button in the bottom bar (1x).
A keyboard macro cuts a clip around the playhead with one key press and adds it to a sequence.
Press the keyboard icon (Keyboard Macros) in the toolbar on the right edge of the video.
Press Add Macro. The same window lists all your macros, and you can edit or delete them there.
Give the macro a Key (e.g. 1) and a Label. Clip Bounds set how many seconds before and after the playhead go into the clip, e.g. 6 s before and 2 s after. Choose the Target Sequence: Create new sequence makes a sequence named after the macro, or choose an existing one. Press Create.
Watch the video and press the macro's key every time the play you want happens. The clip is added to the sequence right away and a notification confirms it. Cmd/Ctrl + Z undoes the latest clip.
Drop colour-coded markers into a sequence with one key, e.g. rebounds and goals.
Open a sequence from the library (Sequences) and press the flag icon (Markers) in the bottom bar.
Under New marker pick a colour, type a name (e.g. Rebound or Goal) and press Add. Every marker gets its own key (1, 2, 3…). To change a key, click it and press the new key. Changes save as you make them, so close the window with Done.
Play the sequence and press a marker's key when the moment happens. A coloured marker appears on the timeline at the playhead.
Click a marker on the timeline to jump to it. You can remove a marker you don't need straight from the timeline.
The AI finds the shots in your videos and makes a sequence for every goalie.
Press Select in the top-right corner of the library.
Select the videos you want the shots from, e.g. every video from the same practice. Then press AI in the selection bar. Select videos only: sequences and comparisons can't be analysed.
Choose Shots by goalie. Under What was filmed? say whether it is a Practice or a Game, behind the net (e.g. a GoPro on the glass). If you know it, also pick How many goalies? there are across the selected videos, so one goalie isn't split into several cards. Press Start Analysis.
A card called AI: shots by goalie appears in the library and shows how far the analysis is. You can close the browser: you'll get a notification when the goalies have been found.
Press Match goalies on the card. For each goalie picture, answer Who is this?: an athlete on the team, a coach or Someone else…. If the picture isn't a goalie, choose Not a goalie — leave out. If the same goalie is on several cards, press Select, pick the cards and name them in one go.
Press Create sequences. Every goalie gets their own draft sequence, tagged with that goalie, so only they and the coaches can see it. You'll find the sequences under Sequences in the library.
